This project is situated in Coffee bay, one of the most beautiful Bays in South Africa. Coffee bay was founded many years ago when a Coffee Ship was wrecked on the Coastline of Coffee Bay. This is a Trully amazing place to Visit. Still Untouched and so beautiful. This Tropical place of South Africa is situated on the Wild Coast, Transkei where beach life is a pleasure and Surfing is Joy. Invest in the lives of children and African People in rural Africa, on the magical Wild Coast of South Africa. This is a beautifully breath taking place to visit. You will get to see the famous ‘’Hole in the wall’’ and experience the true African Culture, whilst meeting some Great people.
This programme is based in the Remote Coastal village on the Transkei Coastline, where faith based people are working hard to make a real difference in the lives of the local community.
Please do let us know before arrival what you expect from your time here with us, and what your talents are. Its in our best interest for you to have the best time whilst you are with us and we want you to feel like your time has impacted the Less Privileged people (whilst you are with us).
Learn to Surf and learn to Teach children to surf (alongside our Coach), or if you have surfed before then you can assist leading as a Surfing Coach. Please let us know on your application form if you have surfed before or not.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to Assist us in Building a strong Community based Church- inviting many people from the community to Join in. It will be a great advantage if you have music talents or Preaching Talents.
These costs are minimal and include accommodation at the Accommodation which is situated at the beach (across the road from the school), Basic orientation on arrival, a basic introduction to Xhosa and initial facilitation, pick up on arrival from Umtata shell station in the local bus, a shuttle once a week to buy Groceries, food to feed the children at the activity and staff fees.
Prices exclude flights, Travel insurance, visas (you will get a FREE 3 month’s visa on entering South Africa as long as you Hold a EU, BRITISH OR USA Passport), breakfast and lunch and dinner. Please budget an extra $40 / £35 for food per week. The shuttle to buy food is included in the price.
$260 / £165 for the 1st week $210 / £135 for each additional week (Includes 1 Free surf lesson per week).
If you wish to Join us as staff for 1 to 6 months then rates will be less for you (Please let us know on your application form that you wish to be staff/ interns).
Prices exclude the Registration Fee of $295 (a once off registration fee) If you pay this fee within 5 days from submitting your application form then the fee will be reduced to $250 for you.
What do your fees pay for?
Registration Fee – Web-design Costs, Program marketing costs, administration costs, Volunteer in Sa fund, and communication costs with volunteers.
Volunteer Program Fee – Basic orientation, staff costs to supervise, accommodation in an African Style Backpackers Lodge, in-country administration costs, pick up and drop off from umtata in the local service bus (with staff collecting you on the shuttle bus on arrival), shuttle to buy food weekly once a week.
What additional costs will you have?
The Volunteer must provide for the following:
Visa (you will get a 3 month visa on entry to South Africa free of Charge if you hold a : UK, USA, OR EUROPE PASSPORT),
All volunteers should visit either their personal physician or a travel health clinic 4-8 weeks before departure
Mobile phone/ internet charges. A variety of mobile network carriers provide good coverage for both mobile phones as well as internet facilities. It is normally more cost effective to locally purchase pay-as-you-go air-time and data bundles compared to roaming options.
