Further Information:

This Project is based in Fish hoek. Most the children come from the near by township called Masiphumele (a well known vibrant Township in Cape town)
This township is well known for its authentic culture.  When visiting this Project you will have the chance to see real Africa and how the African people live on orientation.  The accommodation is situated a 10 minute walk to the Project and Cape Town City Centre is only a 30 minute drive away within  False Bay, Fish hoek area is one of Cape Town’s most magnificent locations, surrounded by Mountains and beautiful vegetation. Our accommodation is based near to the beach, shops, restaurants and free wifi  (within close walking distance). You will be provided with a moden to use for wifi, we provide 10 gigs free a month, there after you may top it up.  Within the accommodation is a lovely fully equipped kitchen and everything you will need to feel like you are right at home. Ubers are easily available or public transport.

Volunteers must be 18 years or older.  If you are below 18 years old then you need to send us a letter of consent from your parents (or we can get in touch with your parents for you).  No specific skills or qualifications are necessary besides a love for children, a willingness to help and a reasonable level of Fitness.

The children we teach are aged between 1-7 years old (There are 50- children in total at the school). This Project gives you the opportunity to build rewarding relationships with the children. The children can speak English although their home language is Afrikaans or Xhosa or Zimbabwean. During your time at this Project you will have the opportunity to take part in visiting the township.  We have a huge need for volunteers to help us at this Project.  The children come from very poor backgrounds.  Some of the children are Orphans and don't have parents (they live with family members). You will experience the satisfaction of watching these children progress and develop. Your role as volunteer is very important in changing and shaping these children’s lives. As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to serve at the school and assist the teacher with teaching the children: Arts and Crafts, Music / worship, Prayer, reading to the children and playing sports with the children outside. This project is loads of fun and your efforts will be greatly appreciated. Any old clothes, shoes and blankets are a welcome donation to the community.  They are always in need of these. This project runs from 11am-4pm out of school holidays and from 9am to 4pm in school holidays. Please let us know if you would also like to join our Surfing project in the afternoons.

Volunteers are housed at our comfortable, Safe and tranquil accommodation, only a 2 minute walk to the shops and 10 minutes walk to the project. Our accommodation is surrounded by mountains and has a lovely view of the mountains. We are situated on 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue fish hoek. The beach is a short drive away.  Fresh Bedding is provided weekly (volunteers must bring their own towels). Bottled water is readily available in South Africa however the tap water is safe to drink.  We offer a fully equipped kitchen for you to cook in.  You can choose between cooking meals on your own, or joining in with the other volunteers. Please budget around $50 / £40 a week for Grocery shopping.
